The Salle Gaston Médecin, home of AS Monaco Basket, had a compliance problem with EuroLeague requirements because of its capacity, limited to 3,000 seats. At the express request of Prince Albert II of Monaco, in 2021 the Monegasque government began looking into a complete refurbishment of the venue’s stands so that Aleksei Fedorychev’s club could play its matches in the competition at home rather than in another arena. Once the feasibility study had been completed and the budgets allocated, the works were scheduled over just three months in the summer of 2022, a real challenge for every company involved in the project.

Without altering or demolishing the structure of the venue, a bespoke metal frame was designed to rest on the existing concrete terracing in order to support entirely new wooden tiered seating.
Our teams were consulted by the architecture practices BRA and 1point61 for the supply and installation of all the seating in this new venue configuration. We supplied and installed more than 4,500 bespoke wooden tiered seats with numbering, along with almost 40 press desks, also made to measure.
Our logistics and installation team rose to the challenge of fitting out the venue with staggered deliveries, on a site in continuous use, and in the middle of summer. Our fitters installed all the seats in just two weeks instead of the three originally scheduled.
A few additional details about our wooden shell seats:
- Made-to-measure dimensions,
- Customised varnish finish and metal supports,
- Venue logo engraved on the upper part of the backrest,
- Bespoke imitation leather seat pad/cushion,
- Adhesive numbering inlaid on the upper part of the backrest.

Once again, we would like to thank the Government of Monaco, the architecture practices BRA and 1point61, and S.A.M.M.I. for the trust they placed in us throughout this fine project.
